Attendance Zoning

Dripping Springs ISD is currently developing new elementary and middle school attendance zones to go into effect beginning with the 2025-26 school year. In August 2024, DSISD formed an Attendance Zoning Committee composed of parents, staff and community members to recommend new attendance zone boundaries to the administration and DSISD Board of Trustees.

Attendance Zoning Committee Members: Evan Autry, Benee Arndt, Sarah Buckland, Janet Carter, Mandy Cook, Ashley Dieringer, Kyle Fernandez, Cody George, Ben Ingram, Zane Lucke, Missy Mayfield, Katie McDonald, Stacey Saddler, Tiffany Sparks, Anthony Truitt, Kelly Van Hook, Elaine Cogburn (Deputy Superintendent), James Conkle (Director of Construction & Planning), Jennifer Edwards (Executive Director of Communications), Maureen Jamail (Walnut Springs Elementary Principal), Karen Kidd (Assistant Superintendent for Learning & Innovation), Kelly Miller (Sycamore Springs Middle School Principal), Gina Mitschke (Chief Financial Officer), Steve Novickas (Rooster Springs Elementary Principal), Pam Swanks (Director of Transportation), Shanda DeLeon (Board Member), Mary Jane Hetrick (Board Vice President)

The committee's goal is to reorganize the elementary and middle school attendance zones to ensure, to the extent possible, that the following parameters are met:

  • optimize the utilization of district facilities while relieving overcrowded campuses;

  • work to defer the timing of future school construction where possible;

  • consider proximity and, to the extent possible, keep subdivisions together and zone students to the closest campus; and

  • strive to minimize the number of times a student is rezoned by considering future zoning changes as attendance zones are developed.

Elementary #6 is currently under construction and is expected to open next school year as is the expansion of Sycamore Springs Middle School.

Attendance Zoning Community Meetings

Four community meetings will be held where the district will present initial attendance zone options for the community to review and provide feedback. District administration and the Attendance Zoning Committee will then review the community input and make adjustments before presenting a recommendation to the DSISD Board of Trustees for approval in December 2024.
