Influenza

Flu season typically lasts from September through March of each year, but can last until mid-May. Because the flu can have a significant impact on the educational setting, it is crucial that parents have access to flu information year round. Even though most children infected with influenza recover with little to no complications, some cases can result in hospitalization and sometimes even death.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends a three-step approach to fighting the flu:

  1. Get a flu vaccine each and every year.

  2. Use preventative actions to help prevent the flu.

  3. Seek early treatment if you suspect the flu.
