Dripping Springs High School sophomore Jack McClure claimed a top-10 finish in Principles of Hospitality and Tourism at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) on Tuesday, April 30 in Anaheim, California.
McClure became just the sixth DSHS DECA student to be recognized as an international finalist, competing against 400 students from across the United States and a handful of countries.
In his event, McClure completed a comprehensive exam and two case studies, which included his demonstration of mastery related to multiple performance indicators specific to the hospitality and tourism industry.
Sophomores Emily McKey (Quick Service Restaurant Management Series) and Bella Rose (Restaurant and Food Service Management Series) also represented DSHS at the international competition.
The DSHS DECA program had another successful year with 33 students advancing to the state contest. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
