Dripping Springs ISD will hold an Open House and Community Coffee on Wednesday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m. in the Center for Learning & Leadership at 300 Sportsplex Drive. Community members will be able to tour the building, view numerous historical items on display, and visit with district leaders over coffee.
The renovated Center for Learning & Leadership opened in June 2023 to house the district’s administrative offices and Child Development Center, which had previously been located at 510 W. Mercer Street since 2000. Over the last two years, the DSISD communications staff worked on several projects to honor and showcase the storied history of the district throughout the building. This included the facilitation of a Historical Committee comprised of several long-time Dripping Springs residents and DSISD alumni. Artifacts and photos featured in the building include items donated by Clarence Cobb (Class of 1953), Jack Lyle (Class of 1953), the family of Wallace Spillar (Class of 1954) and Martha Ann Stephenson (Class of 1955), and the family of Louise Wallace (Class of 1950), among others.
The building first opened in 1999 as Dripping Springs Intermediate and most recently served as Walnut Springs Elementary (WSE). In 2018, voters approved a bond program to construct a new WSE campus on Tiger Lane and move the administration offices and Child Development Center into the building.
