Dripping Springs High School and its students have earned recognition from College Board based on Advanced Placement (AP) exams administered in the spring of 2024.
Dripping Springs High School was named to the AP School Honor Roll for the first time since the program launched in 2023. For a campus to be recognized on the AP School Honor Roll, they must meet the following criteria: 1) 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least 1 AP Exam during high school; 2) 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP Exam during high school; and 3) 2% or more of the graduating cohort took 5 or more AP Exams during high school.
DSHS was also recognized with the AP Access Award, which honors schools that demonstrate a clear and effective commitment to equitable access to advanced coursework. Schools earn the award if the percentage of AP Exam takers who are underrepresented minority and/or low-income students mirrors the school's overall student demographics.
Of the 135 current students recognized as AP Scholars, 45 received the highest honor of AP Scholar with Distinction. Thirty-one students were named AP Scholar with Honor and 59 students received AP Scholar accolades. In addition, more than 100 members of the Class of 2024 earned accolades.
AP Scholar Awards are presented on several different levels based on the average score on the exams and the cumulative number of tests taken:
AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
