DSISD Attendance Zoning

New Attendance Zones (Effective 2025-26 School Year)

The Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees approved new elementary and middle school attendance zones that will go into effect beginning with the 2025-26 school year. The new attendance zones incorporate the district’s new elementary school (Elementary #6) that is currently under construction in the Headwaters neighborhood in addition to the expansion of Sycamore Springs Middle School from 850 to a 1,200 student capacity.

The new elementary attendance zones will balance campus enrollments districtwide to relieve overcrowding at Dripping Springs Elementary and Walnut Springs Elementary and add more students to the under-enrolled elementary campuses on the east side of the district (Cypress Springs, Rooster Springs, Sycamore Springs). The new middle school zones will add more students to the Sycamore Springs Middle School campus as the Dripping Springs Middle School attendance zone is projected to grow.

In August 2024, DSISD formed an Attendance Zoning Committee composed of parents, staff and community members to recommend new attendance zone boundaries. DSISD also collected input through two Google surveys and six community input sessions.

The committee's goal was to reorganize the elementary and middle school attendance zones to ensure, to the extent possible, that the following parameters are met:

  • optimize the utilization of district facilities while relieving overcrowded campuses;

  • work to defer the timing of future school construction where possible;

  • consider proximity and, to the extent possible, keep subdivisions together and zone students to the closest campus; and

  • strive to minimize the number of times a student is rezoned by considering future zoning changes as attendance zones are developed.

Grandfathering
DSISD will establish a grandfathering process to allow certain students who are being rezoned the opportunity to continue at their legacy campus. Grandfathering guidelines will be announced by the district no later than January 31, 2025.
