The Dripping Springs High School boys’ and girls’ wrestling teams swept the team titles and qualified 21 wrestlers for the regional tournament on Thursday at the District 14-6A Championships in Austin.
Four Tigers came away with individual titles for the boys including Jackson Shipley (113 pounds), Cole Sides (126), Drew Clarno (144) and Gabe Morales (157). Tucker Lundin (132), Charlie Lundin (138), Caleb Collins (175), Mikkel Bushee (215) and David Tejada (285) were second-place finishers in their respective weight classes. Noah Williams (165) and Daniel Krauss-Thompson (190) finished third to round out the regional qualifiers for the boys.
The Tigers returned to the top of the podium for the seventh time in the last nine years with 230 team points. Lake Travis took second place with 183 points while Austin Bowie finished third with 176 points.
For the girls, Dripping Springs earned just its second team title (2022) in program history by edging out Buda Johnson by nine points with a team score of 163.
Evelina Cardinal (107), Brandilynne Lobash (114), Lucy Clarno (120) and Elsa Delaney (126) captured district titles for the Tigers. Amy Ellis (165) and Layla Drummond (235) collected runner-up finishes, while Audrey Orr (132), Rasanie Ly (138) and Kinsey Belote (185) were third-place finishers and Audrina Flores (152) placed fourth to also qualify for regionals.
The Region IV-6A Championship will be held Feb. 7-8 at the Delco Center.
