Dripping Springs High School senior Grace Rabb made history Saturday, Feb. 22 at the UIL 6A State Swimming Meet by capturing state championships in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard backstroke to earn Athlete of the Meet honors.
In her first race of the day, the 200 IM, Rabb snapped the UIL’s longest-standing state record with a time of 1:56.40 to surpass the 17-year-old record previously held by Westlake’s Mary Beck. Rabb’s sensational performance placed her four seconds ahead of second place and helped her become the first DSHS female swimmer to win an individual event since 2012.
A couple of hours later, Rabb cemented her legacy as the first Dripping Springs swimmer to win multiple state titles after clocking a school-record time of 53.01 in the 100 backstroke.
In other action, junior Laurel Hoskovec finished seventh in the 500-yard freestyle after recording a school-record time of 4:58.19 to add to the team’s point total.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Macie McCurry, Fairlane Bynum, Lexi Landrum and Hoskovec also set a new DSHS standard with a time of 1:35.81 to earn a fifth-place finish. McCurry’s leadoff time of 23.82 also broke a school record last set in 2008.

The quartet of McCurry, Hoskovec, Lexi Landrum and Rabb added to the new school records on the day with a time of 3:26.59 to finish fourth. In the event, McCurry broke her own school record by timing 51.57 in her 100 split.
