Congratulations to DSISD employee and Dripping Springs Century News writer Carl Waits on being named the Texas Girls Coaches Association Division II Sportswriter of the Year! Waits has covered Tiger athletics for the Dripping Springs Century News for the last 34 years. He has spent 59 years with DSISD, serving 30 years as a teacher and coach and 29 years as a bus driver.

The Dripping Springs Education Foundation presented a check to DSISD in the amount of $417,541.99 at the June 24 board meeting! The check will support Student Leadership Grants, Innovative Teaching Grants, and salaries for three licensed mental health professionals and a staff wellness counselor. Dripping Springs High School musicians Grace Bertram (baritone saxophone) and Adrian Fisher (cello) were each named an Outstanding Performer at the 2024 Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest in Austin! Only 2-3 percent of students earn this honor each year. Congratulations!

On Tuesday, DSISD held a groundbreaking ceremony for the district's sixth elementary school, a project approved by voters in the 2023 Bond! The campus will open in the Headwaters neighborhood in the fall of 2025 and accommodate 850 students in grades PK-5. More information on this project can be found at dsisdtx.us/elementary6.

Congratulations to Dripping Springs High School student-athletes Henley Anderson and Alec Rill on being named Athletes of the Year for their respective sports at the Austin Area High School Sports Awards ceremony! As a sophomore, Anderson recorded 717 kills, 395 digs and 60 aces in leading the Tigers to the regional finals. She was recently named to Team USA's U-19 squad. Rill captured the 6A state championship in the 215-pound weight class with a 49-2 record as a senior. He finished his career as a three-time state placer and the school record holder with 163 career wins.

The workshop meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by the agenda review at 6:00 p.m. in the Center for Learning & Leadership. The DSISD Bond Advisory Committee will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, June 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Walnut Springs Elementary.

👷𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐃 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄🚧
Construction crews are working around the clock on renovation projects at Dripping Springs Elementary (built 1987) and Dripping Springs Middle School (built 1985) this summer! Work will continue until the start of school and start up again next summer. Among the work being done at both campuses are safety and security upgrades including front office and secure vestibule redesign along with new flooring, walls, ceilings, lighting and HVAC. At Dripping Springs High School, new lighting is being installed in the competition and A and B gyms, and new flooring is being laid down in the competition gym, replacing the flooring from 2010.











Earlier this week, leaders from Dripping Springs ISD, Hays CISD, and Wimberley ISD participated in reunification training by The "I Love U Guys" Foundation. The two-day training covered the Standard Response Protocol and Standard Reunification Model to safely reunite students with parents during a school crisis or emergency. Thank you to Commissioner Walt Smith and the Hays County Office of Emergency Services for the grant funds to provide this valuable training.
